weekending- my favorite moments

Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend—mine was really good. Here are some of my top moments from the weekend.

I read. A lot. I finished this book on Saturday afternoon. It was really good! If you don't know who this author is, then this isn't the book for you. It is outside of what I normally read (Christian fiction), so there is language and lots of partying scenes. It takes place in the early 80's and the plot was being set for what would come at the end of the book. I won't say too much, because I hate to give anything away, but it definitely held my interest and I gasped out loud at the end of the book. It wasn't at all what I was expecting, so she does a good job of a plot twist. One thing I love about this author—even though her books have lots of characters, she explains them in a way that they each get the limelight for several pages at least, so it never gets confusing. Apparently, this is THE book to read for this summer. I didn't know that, I just bought it for my tablet when it was on sale for $3.99.

I enjoyed one final date night before our sons came home from their vacations. We ate sushi one night last week, then we went to Pyro's one night and on Friday night I as craving Mexican food. Todd took me to the BEST Mexican restaurant I've been to yet—a place called Perico's in Arlington. I had their "special chicken", which consisted of grilled chicken that was very thin, grilled shrimp in a yummy sauce, rice and guacamole salad. Also, their salsa was TO DIE FOR. I'm such a sucker for chips and salsa.

Even though it was the weekend, I still enjoyed my morning quiet times. I try to never neglect this time with Jesus, though I do certainly wait until later in the day sometimes. It says June 11 in my journal, but I had the dates all mixed up in my head.

This meme couldn't be any truer. I so relate to what it says!

Church was so good Sunday! I always love our worship and the preaching was spectacular. This was a makeup and hair check before I left and I had some time to kill. I was also waiting on a text from my hubby—he went in for a shift on Saturday afternoon around three p.m. and he didn't get back home until almost two p.m. on Sunday afternoon! He and his partners were stuck on a particular call for over thirteen hours. Needless to say, he came home and showered, ate some pizza and was in bed when I came home from choir practice at five fifteen.

This is one of those things I saw on social media that intrigued me and though I don't know for certain that they have their numbers exactly right, I can see this as being correct. This image depicts all of the cross references in the Bible. Here is what was said about this image above:

This shows the 63,779 cross references in the Bible. The white bars along the bottom represent each Bible chapter from Genesis 1 through Revelation 22. The line's color shows the reference's distance from the other. A cross reference is a scripture that references another scripture. Had the Bible been written by one person or at one time, this would still be amazing—however, the Bible was written by 40 authors over the span of 1,500 years on 3 different continents. The Bible is complex, diverse and intricate. It has one unified message—God lovingly redeems all who believe in Him.

Isn't that something else?! My pastor always says if you have a question about something you read in the Bible, keep studying and digging for the answer within the Bible. The Bible used to seem to boring and irrelevant to me when I was young, but that couldn't be farther from the truth! It is THE most relevant and relatable book I have ever read, all 66 of the books within the Bible. Don't ever let yourself be fooled into believing there is another book that is equally as important as the Bible—that is not true. Nothing else compares the Bible and it is the source of everything that we need.

Lastly and most importantly, I was thrilled when two of my sons came home from their vacation. I was so glad they made it safely back home. My other two sons will return home tonight. I plan on having a big family dinner this week at some point, because it seems like it's been ages since we've all been together.

How was your weekend? I'd love to hear from you! Once again, I'm linking up with Tanya from The Other Side of the Road. Thanks for reading my blog! Love to all.
