Hello Monday linkup & weekending

Happy Monday, friends!  I'm linking up with Tanya from The Other Side of the Road, and her friends, for this blog post.

The whole weekend was lovely and low-key, which is the best kind of weekend, in my humble opinion.

My husband worked with the Sheriff's department Friday night, and I was looking forward to a night at home and alone, but I ended up not feeling great most of the night, so it was kind of a wasted night.  I was in bed by nine thirty, and this was after I got caught up on the show New Amsterdam.

I was better when I woke up on Saturday, and this was me sitting at the table in the kitchen, and waiting on my mom to pick me up.  We spent the morning together grocery shopping.  Yes, we lead exciting lives.  I'm smiling as I write that.

I'm pretty sure this was the only time all weekend that this table was cleaned off.  I sit here for my quiet time each morning, but it also was filled with groceries and stuff that needed to be put away.  I came home after we shopped and read for a while, then got up to make dinner to take to a friend.  While I was somewhat near my Costco, I went there to get a few more things I needed, and to fill my car up with gas.  I didn't mean to be out past dark, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity, since I was so close.

I was at church early Sunday morning, and spent about an hour with this little cutie while her mommy rehearsed for the worship service.

She's one of our choir babies, and she is so much fun!  It was nice getting my baby fix, since I don't get to see my little great nieces too often.  She is mobile now, which is why her mommy needed help with her during rehearsal that morning.  I told her I would be glad to do this for her anytime.  I just love her so much.

After church I came home and ate lunch, then tried to take a nap.  My hubby came home too, but only for a few minutes, then he left again, this time to go buy a replacement basketball goal for the old one we had.  Those guys who have been here doing our siding finished the minor repairs they had to make on Saturday, then they took their trailer back with them when they left.  I was as excited about having that monstrosity gone as I was having the house finished.  The guys in the house have been outside all weekend playing basketball, and I missed that sound during the months they couldn't use the goal.

And speaking of the house, check out our {almost} finished house!

We have new garage doors, which we still love as much as when we got them back during last summer, we got all the pipes replaced inside the house and the ones leading to the house from the street {hence the messed up yard and no flowers or bushes in the flower beds}, we have all new windows {21!}, we have a new dishwasher, we have new faucets in the kitchen and in the bathrooms, we have all new siding {the kind with a lifetime warranty} and brand new shutters, and we have a new hot water heater.

In about a month or so, we will put something in the flower beds to fill them up again, and we still have to buy the new porch railing to replace the old we threw away.  And we still planning on having a new low-to-the-ground deck replaced in the back of the house.  I also plan on painting the front door, but I have been slow to decide on the color.  I think I've got it figured out now, though, and I'll do that one day soon, along with finishing the indoor painting I still haven't touched.  {I had to let my shoulder and arm recover from painting the tall walls in the stairwell.}

In case you don't know what it used to look like, here's a photo grid I created to show you.  She was tired looking in that above picture with the awning, old roof, and bad gutters.  She sure is bright and new now, though!

I love how it all turned out.  I'll be anxious to finish the rest of the outside soon, too, and see it all completed.  We have a whole other mile-long list, it seems, for things on the inside, but it'll all get done in due time.

The other thing I did yesterday was go to my mom's house to watch part of the game and to eat, but I left there at halftime and finished the night at my best friend's house, where we watched the puppy bowl.  Fun times.

Well, happy Monday to you!  Have a great day.  Laundry is calling my name.

Love to all.

  2. It sure did, and we are so thankful! Thank you for that, I think it was probably the hamburger from Backyard Burger I'd eaten for lunch...I cannot eat fast food anymore, regardless the place. I just need to remember that! ;)

    Have a great week!

  3. Love your house updates! A bold color on your front door would be awesome! Congrats on all the changes. It can be stressful though.
